Haikus for Leah

hai
ku
for
you

baby beautiful
born grown laughed cried played changed grown
loved you well, a while

forgotten in piles
lie your coupons unredeemed
gifts of love to me

where oh where was I ?
lost in MY smallness, til now,
need me if you dare

I am your father
proud, excited, loving you,
who are my daughter

radiant, shining,
light flowing from your being
brightening our world

shining light shining
whatever that means to you
being light being

abroad for a year
expand through smallness and fear
growing roots and wings

opening your heart
whispering, stirring, touching
your ancestral home

focused, flying free
fascinating eyes feasting
weary freedom's rest

notice dislikes now
instead, you want what? switch now
Feel like it's yours now

explore all YOU want
picture details, coming soon
think only good thoughts

IOU my best

driven by yearning
to become fully alive
to shed shells of
deadness
moving

into BIGNESS
onto
smallness unto

step by step, you
draw me
teach me
guide me
walk me
up there
to the slipping and sliding
interpenetration of
hard and soft

the hard thrust upward
pushing aside the soft
the soft thrusts downward
feeling everywhere the hard
as the hard yields, bit by bit,
the soft surrenders to
the sharper thrusting
embracing and enveloping it
the hard enfolds the thrusting soft
until at last it
surrenders completely,
is washed and
blown away
into nothingness
into love ?

go

mars
brightest of stars
wandering dawn-lit
all night
companion to light
ball of white
remaining
unfading
sky's radiance
gaining

object of focus
of contemplation
reseeking
refinding
this moment's location

until, with inspiration
to go
I let
you
go

The Edge

roused from slumber
inaudible rumble
wall of umber

my humble
dawning awareness
awed by light
by height
by ball of white
nearing
nudging
nosing
nestling

aaaaahh...

aaaaahh...

awed by light
by height
by wall of white
let's go tonight
we'll be allright
in misty moonlight

weary wisdom
reaches
'round awe,
past aaawwh!
to rest in aaaaahh...
amidst
yips,
whisps,
whispers
beneath ball and
wall of white

I Slipped

I
slipped
the tips
between your lips
between my lips
and the tip
between
and
slipped
beneath air's grip
into your sea
serene

I
slipped
and writhed
along the ride
‘neath mound
and plain
and well
to dwell
and rest
‘neath round
mound chest
and there
at last
to lie
